Q&A: Understanding the Tape
Is the tape removable? The tape is designed for permanent bonding, so it's not easy to remove once applied. However, you can use WD-40, Goo Gone, or a mixture of water and lemon oil to remove any residue.
Why is the protective film difficult to remove? The difficulty in removing the protective film is determined by the raw materials and production process. We have included a peeling tool to make this task easier.
Why is the tape not as sticky as advertised? The adhesive strength of the tape is influenced by several factors: surface, pressure, time, and temperature. For maximum bonding strength, we recommend: 1. Cleaning the surface before application to ensure it is clean, dry, smooth, and free of oil. 2. Applying pressure to the tape before removing the red backing, and then pressing the mounted object firmly for a strong, permanent bond. 3. Allowing 72 hours for the tape to reach its maximum bonding strength. 4. Applying the tape in temperatures between 70°F and 100°F (21°C and 38°C).
Why does the tape have an unpleasant smell? The unique smell is due to the raw materials used, such as modified acrylics, in the tape's composition. However, the smell is harmless, and you can store the tapes in a well-ventilated area to reduce the odor.
How to Apply the Heavy Duty Mounting Tape
- Surface Cleaning: Clean the surfaces thoroughly with a 50:50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water. Ensure the surfaces are flat, clean, dry, and free of dirt and oil.
- Cut and Apply Pressure: Cut the tape and apply pressure in one direction to avoid air bubbles.
- Remove the Red Liner: Use the provided blue peel-off tool to remove the red protective liner.
- Apply and Press: Align the object to the desired placement and press firmly for 60 seconds to create a strong, permanent bond.
